The first Friday of August is dedicated to celebrating beer all over the world and is celebrated on 6 continents, in 60 countries and over 210 cities. In honor of International Beer Day, we have created a list of our Favorite 5 European Beer Cities.  Visit one or all for unique beer specialties along with a bit of culture and history!

Travel and beer go hand in hand.  The world is full of destinations with their own beer specialties.  Why not gather your friends and enjoy beer, companionship, culture and history all at the same time?  For some of the best pub-hopping in Europe, we recommend the following 5 destinations:

1.  Amsterdam

Amsterdam is well known for craft beer.  For a completely Dutch experience stop by Proeflokaal Arendsnest along the Canal Belt with their all Dutch menu and a wide selection of brews and Amsterdam-made barley brewed beverages.

2.  Dublin

An iconic destination for pub hopping!  What could be better than drinking a Guinness at an Irish Pub?  Check out The Brazen Head, the oldest pub in Dublin while exploring the charming cobblestone Temple bar area.

3.  Munich

Home to Oktoberfest - the most famous beer festival of all!  If you love beer, you must attend the festivities here in late September.  Be sure to make reservations way ahead because everything gets booked early.  Munich has many breweries and family owned pubs to explore, but Augustiner Brauerei gets a special mention with a history of making beer since the 14th Century! 

4.  Prague

The Czech Republic is legendary for its beer.  Beautiful Prague is home to outstanding breweries, brewing schools and old taverns from the Middle Ages.  For beautiful views of Prague, visit the Letna Beer Garden ​and park atop a hill looking over the Vlatna River.

5.  Vienna

When you think of Vienna, coffeehouses come to mind.  Beyond Vienna Lager, many contemporary brew pubs have taken the stage and become​ popular.  Don't miss Ottakringer Brauerei - Vienna's last large independent breweries in Austria.  Try their classic Ottakringer varieties or their special Ottakringer BrauWerk craft beer.
